Sometimes you need to put the eyeliner down and let the clothes do the talking.

Statement jackets. I love them but often feel like I need to let them do all the talking. This normally leaves me with the conundrum of whether to go full glam with my make up. When this gorgeous printed jacket from SHEIN came through the post I couldn’t wait to start styling it and found the perfect full face of make up without feeling over dressed at the same time.

I didn’t plan for this to be so Illamasqua heavy but I am just loving their shadows at the moment as they are so buttery and blend so well. This jacket from SHEIN is packed full of colours and patterns so I wanted to go with a neutral eye so as not to take away from them. I start as always by applying with my ring finger Illamasqua Hollow all over the lid and then patting Bubble from the Vital Palette on top to give it a softer finish. In the crease with my Nanshy Blending Brush I blend Envision with big circular movements, I take it to around the middle of the eye but it doesn’t need to be too precise. Then just to make the eyes stand out a little more using my Real Techniques Crease Brush I blend with a wind screen wiper movement Drop in to the outer-v. To bring everything together using a large fluffy crease brush from Royal & Langnickel I blend Stealth from the crease up to the brow bone. Apply some false lashes to the outer corner and the eyes are finished.
Skin wise it’s super simple. Buff into the skin Illamasqua Skin Base with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, I tend to only apply foundation to my cheeks and nose as they get rosy during the day. Then pat again using your ring finger La Girl Pro Conceal under the eyes to highlight and cover any dark circles. No blusher, no contour as I think the jacket gives enough colour. Then just finish everything off with a slick of Albus & Flora Mountain Rose lip balm.
I love this jacket and I can’t wait to style it both in the city and on holiday – I think it would like great over a maxi dress for dinner after a day by the pool.
