A snapshot of our mini moon.
So the Mr and I tied the knot on October 3rd, more on that in a future post and as a honeymoon abroad was out of the question and we hadn’t booked a staycation as we weren’t even sure if the wedding would go ahead we headed into London for a little weekend away just the two of us.
Covered in a little bit of confetti we booked into The Pilgrm Hotel, a gorgeous oasis in the heart of Paddington. It’s fuss free but filled to the brim with plants so I instantly felt at home. There are no mini bars, tiny toiletries you’ll never use instead your handed a recycled plastic bottle on check in that you can refill throughout your stay, plus if you need tea or coffee during your stay they’re on site coffee shop is divine!
After an amazing nights sleep; the beds are so comfy and with a delicious coffee waking us up we headed to Paddington Basin to celebrate in style.
We had been for a static lunch before with London Shell Co and thought one of their river cruises would be the perfect way to celebrate our special day. We climbed aboard and started off with a brandy cider before setting sail down the canal.
As we floated down the canal we were served an abundance of delicious dishes including Mackerel Esabeche, Crab salad, Cornish hake with charred leeks, mussels in a cider sauce finished up with a baked Brillat Savarin cheesecake, all cooked on board and each one just as delicious as the previous. If you’re a wine lover you can have each course paired with one of their amazing wines.
I paired mine with a refreshing wine spritzer – if anyone knows where I can buy these please tell me because I need some in my fridge. Full to the brim we disembarked and waddled our way back to the hotel, another good nights sleep and we were back to work on the Monday, where I could officially change my surname on my email signature.
We’ll be heading for a very belated honeymoon probably in 2022 when it’s safe to fly; we’re thinking Croatia so if anyone has any hotel recommendations or places to visit please let me know in the comments.
Congratulations! And what a wonderful sounding mini-moon, full of relaxation and love, just like it should be. Wishing you many happy decades to come! x
