How to Style The Ankle Swinger

I was going to call this post 1 pair of trousers, 3 ways because that’s what this post is but it just didn’t quite have the right ring to it.

I am always looking for clothing pieces that at first might seem like you bought them for that specific event or to go with that one particular top but then they end up mixing up your wardrobe in the best possible way and working with multiple other pieces. All of these could have been styled with jeans but sometimes I feel like all I ever wear is denim – which for the most part is true but having another pair of trousers in your arsenal can often help you get out of a fashion rut.

This particular pair are from Zara; they are super comfy, perfect for petite people and the most beautiful navy blue. I have to say for some reason I get serious Victoria Beckham vibes whenever I put them on so they always make me feel like a strong, confident, girl boss no matter what I pair them with.

When I first got these trousers keeping the look casual was probbably the most difficult because these trousers tend to sway more towards the smart vibe, so I opted for an over sized shirt to add a dressed down feel to the look. I have worn this outfit multiple times for date nights, coffee with friends and even for work. You might not think that you can relax in these trousers but they are so comfortable, plus you can at as much as you want and not have to undo the top button like I do on my jeans!

I love when two items in your wardrobe that were bought years apart just melt together into the perfect two piece outfit, plus having shoes that complement with matching polka dots to tie it all together. This is what these trousers were made for, a smart and slick yet comfy outfit perfect for special occasions. Navy blue compliments all skin tones but I love how it looks on fair skin, it’s a colour that makes me feel comfortable and classy.

This is my go to outfit when it comes to these trousers, the slightly baggier style lends itself well to having a tighter top half. Perfect for work as well as leisure with more muted tones but the red loafers add a pop of colour, red and navy are a match made in heaven – yes I was aware it’s a running theme throughout this post!

What is your go to bottom half when you’re fed up with jeans?
