Going cruelty free at the beginning of this year was the best decision I ever made and it’s meant i could discover new and old products throughout the year. Here are my top picks for this year.
Sleek Contour Kit|REcover Concealer|LA Girl Concealer|Percy and Reed No Oil Hair Oil|No7 Hydration Mask|Bee Good Nectaperfecta Enzyme Mask|Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit|MDM Flow Liquid Lipstick|Make Up Geek Eye Shadows|Illamasqua Hollow Cream Pigment.
I’ll kick it off with my beauty favourites seeing as I started out as a beauty blog many moons ago it just seems right. A new discovery this year where Make Up Geek shadows these shadows are so pigmented and creamy, so easy to blend and with no fall out plus they have a pretty sweet price tag. Not so new but still very much a loved product is my Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow which I used as an eye primer as well as a contour colour, easy to blend and perfect for pale skinned girls.
Speaking of contour another old favourite that I rediscovered was the Sleek Contour Kit in Light, a lovely contour colour a little warmer than hollow but still good for pale girls paired with a champagne highlight, this again doubles as a great eyeshadow duo. Pop the contour colour in the crews and the highlight on the inner corner for an instant everyday look. The ABH Contour Kit in Light to Medium was a new discovery and is a staple in my bridal kit as well as in my own collection, easy to blend highly pigmented shades to sculpt a face within seconds. Not the cheapest but certainly an investment piece.
Moving onto the two concealers that I discovered this year starting with the more budget friendly LA Girl Pro Concealer; full coverage, creamy and easy to blend; I use this under my eyes to brighten and conceal dark circles. A slightly more pricey concealer the REcover is again a full coverage formula designed specially for combatting redness in the skin, using both these concealers creates flawless skin without any hassle. Last in the beauty category my new lipstick discovery MDM Flow Lipstick in New Nude, I am still loving the 90’s nude trend and this is the perfect shade without having to splurge on a Kylie Lip Kit. It’s highly pigmented, applies easily with no patches and really does stay all day.
Skincare I have two masks for you, the No7 Hydration Mask was a favourite last year and it still is a favourite because it really works! One pump is enough for the whole face and after leaving it for up to 10 minutes I rinse it off and have instantly smoother, plumper, hydrated skin ready for my moisturiser. New discovery is the Bee Good Necta Perfecta Beautifying Mask you can use this on your face, body, hair literally everywhere, great if your skin is dehydrated but also perfect if you just need a quick pep me up mid week.
Last up is a hair product, now I am actually quite lazy when it comes to my hair, I wash it and then just let it air dry and I barely ever heat style however I discovered the Percy and Reed Hair No Oil Oil for Thick Hair which I smooth onto the tips of my hair to seal the ends and help with any dryness and trust me when you’ve dyed your hair as much as I have it needs all the help it can get! You can also run the oil through the lengths of your hair if you struggle with frizz.
And there you have it, my favourite products of 2016. I can’t wait for another year of discovering new products to share with all of you and if you have any recommendations then let me know in the comments.
