Does primer really work? Well this one sure does!
Illamasqua Hydra Veil Primer – £34.00
I’ve always been a little bit skeptical about primers, mainly because I don’t get the science behind them. I’ve tried a few but never repurchased and most days I put my foundation (if i’m even wearing one) on top of my SPF and it stays put.
However in the lead up to my wedding I got randomly hung up on the fact I didn’t have a primer in my routine so I took the plunge and purchased the Illamasqua Hydra Veil Primer. It had been on my wish list for a while because I had heard good things about it but hadn’t wanted to spend the pennies on something that might not do anything. However I’m so glad I did because this is such an amazing product.
It’s a gel consistency but doesn’t dry tacky, I use my fingers to smooth it all over my skin focusing mainly on the driest parts of my face; around the nose and forehead, leave it for a few minutes whilst I do my eye make up and then apply my base over the top. It has both Vitamin C and B3 as well as plant extracts which help hydrate and smooth out the skin. It’s completely vegan, free of parabens and sulphates; my make up goes on better and lasts throughout the day. If you have dry skin and your foundation collects and goes flaky on those patches this primer is perfect for combating this, it is an investment item for your make up routine but I will definitely be repurchasing.
Are you a primer user?
Thank you for sharing this review!! I love the Maybelline baby skin primer, and it’s a perfect dupe of the Benefit Porefessional primer🙌🏼🤍
