Meet the new duo I’m currently loving.
For my wedding I wanted to get a new base which would give me some coverage for the photos but still give me a glowing complexion; as I barely wear foundation anymore I didn’t want it to feel too heavy. Back in the day I would have reached for the NARS Tinted Moisturiser however as they aren’t cruelty free anymore and for some reason my Illamasqua Skinbase isn’t working well with my skin currently I headed to my nearest Charlotte Tilbury counter as I had never tried their bases but had heard really good things about the products especially for super pale people like myself.
Shout out to the amazing lady at Kingston Bentall center who colour matched me whilst I was wearing a mask and was just delightful and not pushy with her sales pitch.
I ended up purchasing both the Light Wonder Foundation in Shade 1.5 as well as the Magic Away Liquid Concealer in Shade 2 and I am in love! The foundation which comes with an SPF of 15 is the perfect lightweight formula that covers any redness but still allows freckles to shine through and just evens out the complexion. I prefer to apply it with my fingers but then use a buffing brush to blend it onto my neck. If you have dry skin I would highly recommend this as it doesn’t cling to any of my dry patches. If you used to use NARS but want a cruelty free option then I would highly recommend checking this foundation out as it’s really similar in texture and finish. If you’re unsure about which shade to get and you can’t get to a store (or would rather order online) then for reference I am shade 3.5 in Illamasqua Skin Base and used to wear Mont Blanc or Siberia in Nars Sheer Glow and Finland in NARS Tinted Moisturiser.
The concealer is amazing and was perfect on my wedding day to add extra coverage to any blemishes, redness or dark circles. It’s really creamy despite being described as a liquid concealer and a little goes a long way; it’s high coverage but doesn’t feel cakey or heavy and I do often wear this alone without foundation. I use the sponge tip to apply to the areas I want and then use my finger to tap it in. The only downside to this product is I find it really hard to get the cap off, not sure if that’s only me but something to keep in mind before you purchase – I will still repurchase though.
These were the first products I have tried from Charlotte Tilbury but i’m sure i’ll be trying some more in the near future; if you have any recommendations please do let me know.
