An afternoon on the island…
There is quite a bit of mystery surrounding Eel Pie Island nowadays, so when the open weekend was on mum and I decided to have a little explore. If you don’t know what Eel Pie Island is then here is a super quick history; the island was the site of the Eel Pie Island Hotel, where bands like the Rolling Stones and The Who used to play and it’s now home to 120 inhabitants and two or three boatyards, as well as some other small businesses and artists’ studios. It has nature reserves at both ends, protected from public access.
It’s a pretty magical place to explore especially in the beautiful sunshine, all the island artist studios were open and there was some delicious tea and cake on offer as well as a cheeky glass of vino to enjoy whilst wandering round. A photographers dream because there are so many fun little corners to explore, my mum was certainly in her element.

The hot weather did slightly confuse me as it’s been pretty miserable in London recently so I reached for a style staple, the LBD. Paired it with some colour pop shoes a matching neon lip and a neutral bag. Simple but effective. The short length of the dress helps elongate my legs even in flats, but it’s not so short that i’m constantly pulling it down.
They are having another open weekend on the 29th-30th of June, so if you are in that part of town you should definitely check it out. Fingers crossed the sun is still shining.
