The days of endless festive nights out are long behind me and the extensive night time glam wardrobe went as well. So when the rare Christmas party does crop up my wardrobe isn’t exactly cut out for it! When I decided to have a lot more of a selective wardrobe this year I knew I needed some classic ‘occasion’ wear pieces that could transition from summer weddings to winter soirees. As always comfort is number one in my books, I don’t want to be pulling down hems to cover my bum, constantly checking that I’m not going to have a cheeky nip slip or worrying that my underwear is going to be showing through. This silky number from Oliver Bonas (which is sadly out of stock now) is the perfect piece, for all occasions. Comfy, timeless and the most gorgeous colour.

Little Black Number
Gone are the days of just opting for a ‘Little Black Dress’; jumpsuits (and playsuits) are also a great timeless piece to have in your wardrobe. Whether its a dress or not, an all black outfit is the easiest to style. Either make a statement with colour pop shoes or keep it classic with a black pair, jewellery can be either silver or gold or if you’re feeling bold colour works as well.
Statement Piece
Let the dress do the talking, and keep accessorises to a minimum. Whether it’s jewel tones or a gorgeous patterned number as long as it makes you feel like a million dollars it doesn’t matter. Keep your shoes and bag simple in either nude or black and maybe leave the extravagant earrings at home.
Two Piece
I am a huge fan of the two piece and not just necessarily a suit. A metallic midi skirt paired with a roll neck top or jeans and a ‘nice top’ are the perfect smart casual option for any festive occasion. Pair them with heels or flats, anything goes the important thing is that you are comfortable and have enough room to squeeze in that extra canapé.
