Staycations are becoming my new favourite thing.
Working in the hotel business certainly has it perks and Sunday saw the Mr and I heading over to Clapham Common to The Windmill for a cheeky overnight.
We stayed in one of their boutique doubles – no.37, if you like the look of it. The room is inviting with beautiful decor and furnishings. I was totally in love with the dressing table, something I think all hotel rooms should have and this one had particularly good light, something else that is often overlooked. The bed was wonderfully comfy, I didn’t want to get out of it the next morning! Full mini bar, complimentary tea and Nespresso machine plus delicious biscuits all helped to make us feel at home.
Mid-evening we popped downstairs to grab some food and settled on a camembert to share – we had both had huge roasts at The Bishop in Kingston earlier in the day. Before falling into bed.
After a good strong cup of coffee we checked out and set off to explore the area around the hotel. As usual the call for food was strong and we soon found ourselves sitting down to eat in No.32 The Old Town.
Orange yolked fried eggs with crispy bacon sitting on cheese topped sourdough for the Mr.
Coconut pancakes with sweet caramelised bananas and smooth coconut yoghurt for me. Washed down with another coffee! Apologies that it’s not a full review but i’ve already added it to my list of places to revisit so look out for a full review soon.
If you’re heading London way but don’t want to stay in the big city, The Windmill is the perfect place to stay.
