Rimmel Wake Me Up Wonder’full Mascara|Review and Comparison

Rimmel Wake Me Up Wonder’full|Rimmel Wonder’full

Whilst strolling through the aisles of Boots I chanced upon a new offering from RimmelWake Me Up Wonder’full Mascara.

I ended up loving the Rimmel Wonder’full Mascara after it had dried up a little – the formula started out a little too wet for my liking, and I am a huge fan of their Wake Me Up Foundation so I couldn’t help but pick up a mascara that had the potential for greatness (possibly a little dramatic for a beauty product)

The Rimmel Wonder’full added a fullness to my lashes without clumping them but The Wake Me Up adds fullness and length without any clumping. The brushes are different; the Wake Me Up is a fibre wand whereas the original is a plastic comb wand however both separate the lashes and help reduce the clumping, the shape of the Wake Me Up means it grabs all the lashes to help give that wide awake look.

Although the Wake Me Up has the same slightly wet formula it doesn’t smudge as easily as the Wonder’full however I am sure as the formula dries I will love it even more.

Sometimes I hate the fact that the camera smooths and blanks out some of the make-up which is so vibrant in real life, but the show must go on and here I am showing you my face inspired by the beautiful Kylie Jenner – yes I am aware I look nothing like her!

Base

Now I am very pale compared to Miss Jenner so getting that warm glow is a little bit more difficult and the camera wiped out all the careful contouring I did; however for foundation I used the Rimmel Wake Me Foundation in Light Porclain which has light reflecting particles which on paler skin can look a little like you’ve smothered glitter on your face so don’t let people get too close; however it has a good coverage and blends easily. To concealer I used the Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer in 15 which helps hide dark circles and blemishes with a creamy texture which blends like a dream.

I can’t be bothered to spend hours on my contouring so I applied some of Illamasqua’s Cream Pigment in Hollow which is the perfect contour colour for paler girls. Kylie is not the biggest blusher fan so instead I attempted to get that warm glow she seems to effortlessly have by using the NO7 Skin Illuminator.

Eyes

Recently there has been a lot of shimmery gold on her eyes so I immediately went with my Inglot Quad using 11 all over the lid and 401 in the crease with a little bit of 330 to highlight underneath my brows. It’s a super simple shadow look which is right up my street for the coming autumn months. For liner I used the MAC Gel Liner in Blacktrack just to create a thin band for the false lashes to sit on and with a tiny flick to give the whole look a slightly more feline feel.

Two coats of Rimmel Wake Me Up Wonder’full Mascara on both my top and bottom lashes before popping the Eylure Urban Tropics Lashes in Rough Utopia which are a choppy lash which adds a slight grunge look to the whole thing.

Finishing Touches

Lips was an easy choice; MAC Lip Liner in Whirl all over the lips without over drawing them because I look like a clown every time I try. I love this lip colour because I think it’s perfect for every season and occasion.

Natural Foundation and Cleanser Recommendation|Ask Kate #2

The reason I love working in the make-up industry is that I get to help people out with make-up whether it be a client or my best friend asking me for help so I’ve created a new little blog series where I publish some of the questions I get asked and my answers!

Q. I need some serious make-up advice. Can you recommend a good natural foundation and cleanser? I have acne on my forehead and I don’t wear foundation too often but I don’t wear foundation too often but I don’t want to go barefaced all the time!

A. Foundation wise Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation can be applied really lightly for a subtle glowy  coverage or applied slightly heavier for a more full coverage look. If you are happy to spend a bit more money then the NARS Tinted Moisturiser is amazing. Cleanser; my two favourites are the Nivea 2 in 1 Cleanse and Tone and Soap&Glory Peaches and Clean.

Fleur Loves Lashes

Eylure Fleur Loves Lashes£5.25

Now i’m not normally one to buy into Youtuber products but I love lashes and seeing as I wear Eylure anyway I went ahead and picked up the Fleur Loves set from the new collection in partnership with beauty blogger and vlogger Fleur DeForce – I actually really like both her blog and Youtube.

I knew there was going to be no question about the quality of the lashes because I rate Eylure at the top of the lash game so I was more interested in the design of the lashes, these ones are a cute 3/4 quarter length strip which wing out at the sides to create a fuller set of lashes. I love that they add texture and volume to my lashes without adding length and looking fake, they help to enhance what is already there.

I would definitely repurchase these regardless of whether they have Fleurs face on them or not they are gorgeous, so easy to apply and very natural.

Have you tried any of Fleurs collection?

I Have a Pale Girl Issue|Ask Kate #1

The reason I love working in the make-up industry is that I get to help people out with make-up whether it be a client or my best friend asking me for help so I’ve created a new little blog series where I publish some of the questions I get asked and my answers!

Q. I have a pale girl issue. My foundation Revlon Colourstay has been great until a few weeks ago when it started caking in the heat. What can I wear that’s going to cover my terrible skin but still be pale?

A. I would go for a medium coverage foundation to let your skin breath a little bit but still give you a good amount of coverage. The Rimmel Wake Me Up is super hydrating for the skin and the shade Light Porclain would be perfect or the L’Oreal True Match in Rose Ivory its not as hydrating but gives great coverage.

Lottie London Treasure Tatts|Review

P1240370P1240036P1240022

Lottie London Treasure Tatts£9.99

Metallic transfer tattoos are everywhere and I am absolutely covered in them; so much so I have earned the nickname of hippie chick at work! I just love the whole festival vibe you get from them even when you are not at a festival.

Lottie London gives you three sheets of gold, silver and black tattoos with all different designs so there is something for everyone and its only £10 which is crazy because some of the original ones on the market are ridiculously expensive.

As someone who goes through stages of wearing jewellery these are perfect for accessorising an outfit and can last for up to a week although they do tend to fade around day three.

Do you wear transfer tatts?

My make-up bag is a mess and proves exactly which make-up products I value.

Star items include my MAC Lip Liner in Whirl which is my go to colour throughout the year, Maybelline The Eraser Eye; super high coverage and blends really easily and Miss Sporty Studio Lash Mascara perfect for getting my peepers in check for multiple occasions.

My Concealer Collection

Maybelline Fit Me|Maybelline The Eraser Eye|Collection Lasting Perfection|Seventeen Phwoarr Paint|Soap&Glory Kick Ass Concealer|Rimmel Wake Me Up.

Concealer is a must have in my day to day routine and I prefer a high coverage for both under the eyes and on any blemishes. Like with my foundations finding concealers that are light enough for my skin and are creamy enough not to drag on my dry skin is quite difficult but each one in my collection gets the job done. I haven’t reviewed all of these individually but there are plenty of mini reviews here and here.

What are your favourite concealers?

In The Nude|Review

P1230784P1230816P1230786

w7 In the Nude£4.99

Dubbed as the dupe for Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette I picked this up for my bridal kit and I think its really good value for money. The quality is not as good as Urban Decay but it is still very good, full of pigmentation, quite a buttery texture to the shadows and a good combination of mattes and shimmers. I am not normally a massive fan of more pink and gold toned shadows but this has a really lovely selection and they are quite subtle shades and will be super useful for my bridal and special occasion kit.

They also do two other palettes which are dupes for the Naked 1 and 2.

Becoming A Low Maintenance Makeup User

P1210224P1230823

Now don’t think I don’t love make-up anymore because my make-up collection is still as large as ever however I have most definitely become a lot more low maintenance about how much make-up I am wearing on a day to day basis. I love a good smokey eye but possibly not on a Monday morning when i’m sitting in my pyjamas munching on some toast.

Ever since stopping wearing foundation on a day to day basis my skin is looking so much more radiant and I barely wear foundation unless its a special occasion or i’m having a bad face day. Mascara is still a must if i’m leaving the house to see people but now I will scurry round to the shops without anything on my peepers-baby steps people! Lips I have completely ditched anything red or berry toned and really only where nude colours. This I feel is just because of the season and I will be back wearing red lipstick as soon as winter rolls round.

Are you more low maintenance or high maintenance make-up girl?
