Bags Inside Out at The V&A

The museums are open again in London, so mum and I were up at the crack of dawn to head to The V&A.

Their latest fashion exhibition is Bags Inside Out. It features around 300 pieces spanning history from 16th century to modern day, with an exclusive look inside the ateliers who make the bags we all drool over on Instagram. Now before I started my capsule wardrobe journey I was a bag fiend and had quite the collection so this was like walking into heaven! Below is a sneak peek of a few of the pieces they have on display…

The exhibition looks at how bags went from functional to a fashion statement, with some beautiful pieces including Vivian Leigh’s address attache case and the first ever made Birkin bag, as well as beautiful historical pieces that you can’t quite believe were hand made and only one exists in the world.

Whether you are bag lover or not this is such an amazing exhibition just to marvel at the skill that goes into making these pieces. The exhibition is on until January 2022 so you’ve got plenty of time to make plans, and the Covid procedures The V&A have in place were fantastic.
