A Special Evening at Smiths of Smithfield

My last anniversary as a Miss.

We wanted to go somewhere a little special for our anniversary dinner but because we celebrate in December when it’s Christmas party season we had a book a little earlier in the month than the actual day. I’ve heard amazing things about Smiths of Smithfield and it’s mouth watering menus so we booked in on a Monday – because they were so busy it was hard to get a space, to see what all the fuss was about and toast to our new future with a glass of something nice.

I wore this gorgeous dress which was leant to me by one of my best friends, she wore it on her birthday and I fell in love with it then and there, so she kindly let me borrow it for our special night. It’s from And Other Stories. I felt like Mrs Clause (in a good way) and paired it with black tights and black boots because it was freezing outside!

Crab Starter at Smiths of Smithfield

Smiths of Smithfield has four different floors to choose from, we picked The Grill. It’s got a menu with something for everyone and can feel special without breaking the bank.  If there is crab on the menu you can pretty much guarantee I’m going to order it. Devon crab on toast with avocado and brown crab mayo. Delicious slightly decadent but not so fancy that you get a portion the size of you thumbnail. I followed this up with whole grilled sea bream, green sauce, burnt lime, and samphire. Flakey succulent fish Whole Seabass at Smiths of Smithfieldwith the saltiness of the samphire was fantastic. We shared sides of lobster mac and cheese, which could definitely have had more lobster and more salt but was tasty nonetheless and also a side of kale which had something else with it but I can’t remember what!  We finished off the meal with a Rocky Road brownie which was rich and full of different textures without being overly sweet everything you’ve ever wanted in a dessert. We paired our whole meal with a bottle of Bodega Norton Privada Malbec which suited all aspects of our dinner even though I was having fish.

I would highly recommend Smiths of Smithfield for all types of dinners, dates, birthdays, work parties it’s a really great space with delicious food. We wished the cocktail bar had been open when we went but I guess that’s just an excuse to go back soon!
