I’ve already started my 2019 challenge.
Do you remember last year when I did Race for Life? I vowed afterwards that I would never run again but somehow I seem to have signed up for the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Ooops.
I love a challenge and I did actually get hit by the running bug after my 5k for Cancer Research – not in a crazy way but I’ve gone to a couple of Park Runs and run a few miles on the treadmill. This however is a much bigger challenge than the 5k and I am having to do some hardcore training which I started a few months ago so that when March 2019 rolls round I don’t die half way round the course.
So why am I running? Well I’m raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support a charity that is very close to my heart. If you know me then you will know that my dad passed away from Cancer. When he was in hospital we had planned for him to come home and have a Macmillan Nurse come to visit daily and help him live life to the best of his ability. He never made it home but the support that Macmillan has to offer is immense and could be life changing. They are the most amazing charity who do so much for not only the person who has been diagnosed with cancer but their family as well. People forget that cancer doesn’t just affect your health but your way of life and your families life. Macmillan help you carry on with normality during treatment and beyond. My wonderful sister is also running, she has chosen Tommy’s as her charity to support and equally amazing charity.
