The Royal Oak is the new kid on the block in Twickenham, they had their soft opening the other night, so the Mr and I popped down to try it out.
Before we talk food I thought I’d just put up my outfit in case you are more fashion interested than food – but you should scroll down because the food was awesome!
Top – H&M|Jeans – ASOS|Shoes – H&M.
So, the meal – we were greeted by a bustling bar and had to squeeze our way round to our table, not that we minded as it means lot’s of people had turned up to see what the guys had to offer.
One day we will branch out from a beer and a gin&tonic but today was not that today – sorry not sorry.
We kicked the meal off with some gin cured salmon with mustard and toast. I wasn’t sure about mustard with salmon but it’s an amazing flavour combination and I kind of wished we hadn’t shared.
You know the food is good when all conversation ceases and you can just make some grunts of appreciation in-between mouthfuls.
Not going to lie, I had major food envy of the Mr’s lamb chop with salsa verde and sauté potatoes however my pork schnitzel with a fried egg and salad was really tasty.
Full to the brim we convinced each other we needed dessert – it doesn’t take much we’re both such foodies – and opted for this beauty; summer pudding with so much clotted cream! We left with jeans straining at the waistband and plans to come back and try out their Bottomless Brunch.
So if you’re local or heading that way anytime soon pop in and grab a bite to eat or just a drink at the bar. The staff are all wonderful, the decor is fab and I think it’s a great addition to Twickenham.
