Nude Eye Bases

Painterly|On and On Bronze|Permanent Taupe|Creamy Beige.

I love neutrals and I don’t care who know it. They suit my pale skin and means your lipstick and clothes will never clash. I also love one swipe wonders, here are my four favourites – surprise surprise three of them are Maybelline Colour Tattoo’s.

MAC Painterly Paint Pot is an eye primer but also cancels out any discolouration on the lids for the days when you want nothing coloured on your lids but a smooth base for your eyeliner. A slightly more pricey product but a little bit goes a long way.

When I want a coloured eyeshadow base or easy eye look I reach for my Maybelline Colour Tattoos and have a variety of colours. On and On Bronze is instant glamour in a tub, a shimmering bronze colour which adds warmth to your eyes. Permanent Taupe is a grey taupe colour – funny that. It’s matte and is the perfect base for a smokey eye. Another matte although it has a more satin finish is the shade Creamy Beige this is the perfect one swipe wonder and again adds warmth to your make up.

NARS Tinted Moisturiser|Review

P1220924

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser£29.00

I have wanted to try the NARS Tinted Moisturiser for ages but have never been able to justify the price tag to myself but luckily I had some vouchers to spend and couldn’t resist picking this up. I was advised by the sales lady to go for the shade Finland which suits me perfectly, its the lightest shade which has both pink and yellow undertone.

Now as someone who normally loves the full coverage look I was surprised how much I loved the light weight coverage. It smoothes out the skin and provides enough coverage to cover redness but still let my freckles shine through. It also adds a subtle radiance to the skin and has the added bonus of SPF 30 which is great for a pale skinned girl like myself.

It is a hefty price tag but if unlike me you only want one base in your make-up kit this will last you ages as a little bit goes a long way and I will definitely be re-purchasing!

Vintage Peep Toes

Vintage Clarks Peep Toes – £10.00

Can’t believe it’s taken me so long to blog about these beauties that I picked up a few months back at the gorgeous Cha Cha Cha Vintage in Muswell Hill. I am not normally a lower heel sort of a girl but I wanted to add a more demure shoe to my collection and these are perfect.

The lower heel makes them very comfortable and the cut out detail on the front means they can jazz up a jeans and t-shirt super easily. Clarks is not the sort of shop I would normally think of to go to for shoes but maybe after picking these up I should check it out more often – these heels are super sturdy and well made.

Cha Cha Cha Vintage has some amazing bargains and the clothing selection is to die for, if you happen to be in the Muswell Hill area – and even if you’re not it’s definitely worth checking out.

Top – Primark|Jeans – ASOS|Boots – H&M (similar)|Bag – Accessorize|Glasses – Specsavers|Coffee Cup – Optional.

Occasionally I have to go to production meetings and although I don’t have to dress in a super smart suit there is a certain business casual approach that I like to take. Black jeans are a great smart casual version of suit trousers and I can’t live without my ASOS Ridley Jeans which fit perfectly and aren’t overly tight. I love teaming these with my leg lengthening H&M Chelsea Boots.

Smart t-shirts are pretty hard to find but this beauty from Primark is great, it’s super comfy and is loose without making you look like you 3 dress sizes bigger than you already are, and the back is sheer giving it a little extra something. I love this bag from Accessorize its perfect for chucking my laptop, scripts and general crap in. My glasses are Specsavers, I finally got new glasses a few months ago and love these chunky black frames.

The Beauty Tool Kit

P1220980

Boots Cosmetics Buds|Garnier Softening Cleansing Lotion|Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream|Carmex Lip Balm|Clinique Repairwear Eye Cream|Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge|Eylure Lash Applicator|Soap&Glory Dr Spot|Nivea Express Hydration Primer.

The top drawer of my make-up storage is dedicated to all the beauty tools and essentials that I use everyday, not always the most beautiful or interesting things but essential none the less.

One thing that I can’t live without are these Cosmetics Buds with a pointed and a flat end they are perfect for sorting out make-up slip ups without having to re-start the whole face. Other tools I like to have on hand include a large supply of cotton pads, my Eylure Lash Applicator which is great for helping position the lashes and my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge my go to tool for concealer, cream blusher and contouring.

Skin care is constantly revolving in this drawer and some lives in the bathroom however a constant tenant is my Nivea Express Hydration Primer, I cannot live without this primer moisturiser hybrid. Currently when not wearing make-up and I just want moistusier I am using the Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream, this is great for dry skinned girls and soaks in super fast without leaving a greasy feeling. Clinique eye creams are my personal favourite and the Clinique Repairwear is my go to morning eye cream it tightens and smoothes and gets my under eyes ready for concealer.

I also have the Garnier Softening Cleansing Lotion, just in case there are any traces of make-up from the night before. Another product that doesn’t get used very often but resides in the tool drawer is the Soap&Glory Dr Spot; I am very lucky that I am blessed with rather good skin – other than its dryness and so spots often only plague me during stressful times. Dr Spot helps bring the spot to the surface and helps them fade quickly and effeciantly. My current lip balm of choice is the Carmex Strawberry Lip Balm which I apply before whatever lip product I am using.

Superdrug Bargain Hairspray|Review

P1220977

Superdrug Hairspray Range – £1.29

A lot of the time I am working on a tight budget for my make-up kit and hairspray is something that I get through very easily so I wanted a product that wasn’t going to break the bank but would also work as well as other brands out there. I tried the Superdrug Ultra Firm Hold and knew that this was the bargain hairspray I had been after.

It holds both up-dos and curls in place without making them crispy or sticky and brushes out super easily. There are a range of holds but I prefer Ultra Firm and Extra Firm as they really keep things in place. They also do mini versions which are great for putting in your handbag for on the go.

Products Worth the Pounds

P1220973

Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara|No7 Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask|NARS Sheer Glow|Illamasqua Skin Base|Clinique Chubby Stick.

Although I love a good budget buy there are a few products out there which are worth spending that extra bit of cash on.

Clinique High Impact Mascara£17.00

I have raved about this product for absolutely ages but its everything I could want from a mascara, length, volume, long lasting and easy to remove at the end of the day. It doesn’t smudge or clump and I think that £17.00 for such a fantastic product is really good value for money.

No7 Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask£12.50

Now some people wouldn’t class this as expensive but I have to say i’m not one for spending out on skin care but this hydrating mask works wonders on my dry skin. It makes your skin smoother, softer and moisturised for days after you’ve applied it.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation£31.00

Sheer Glow is a gorgeous medium coverage foundation that helps smooth out skin tone, evens out skin tone and gives a healthy glow to the skin as well as having a long lasting power. Now £31.00 is a lot for a foundation but this is worth every penny – it’s a lifesaver for us dry skin girls.

Illamasqua Skin Base£32.00

Again a pretty hefty price tag but a little bit of this goes a very long way. Another medium coverage foundation which has an amazing lasting power and great wearability. Skin base has an amazing range of shades and works for all skin types.

Clinique Chubby Stick£17.00

£17.00 for what is a fancy tinted lip balm sounds ridiculous but these are the original and the best. Super moisturising, non-sticky and with just the right amount of pigment these are the perfect on the go lip colour. You can keep on applying throughout the day and not have to deal with buildup.

What products do you think are worth spending more on?

Dry Skin Saviour|No7 Hydration Mask

P1220913

No7 Hydration Mask£12.50

Now I don’t normally get over excited about skin care because let’s face it, it’s not as exciting as make-up in pretty packaging however this offering from No7 is a dry skinned girls dream.

I use this a few times a week depending how much moisture my face needs after i’ve cleansed my face. One pump is enough for the whole face and after leaving it for up to 10 minutes I rinse it off and have instantly smoother, plumper, hydrated skin ready for my night cream.

Now I don’t use the word ‘miracle’ lightly but I feel like this really does work miracles with my skin. If you suffer from dry skin or even just have dry patches then this mask can help your skin to behave like normal.

Textured Black|OOTD

Crop Top – Topshop|Skirt – Brandy Melville (similar)|Tights – Primark|Shoes – H&M|Bag – Jocasi.

Being comfy is an absolute must for me and this all black ensemble is a go to for me. Just because an outfit is all black doesn’t mean it has to be boring! The different textures in this outfit stop it from being boring and add a little extra something, plus my hair adds a pop of colour.

I love this ribbed crop top from Topshop because its not overly cropped so I don’t have to show off too much of my stomach unless I want to, I love pairing it with this skirt from Brandy Melville which is in an odd sort of suede fabric but even though it looks like it would be heavy it still super swishy.

To add another layer of texture I went for this gorgeous Jocasi python clutch – I recently worked on their new collection as the make-up artist and was very kindly gifted this after the shoot. It’s a great size for holding all my stuff but still looks chic.
