On the straight and narrow with my jean styling.
I wore straight leg jeans as a kid (from the boys department of GAP, because I had no hips whatsoever). I then moved into flares before following the crowd at the start of my teens into skinny jeans and thirteen years later I hadn’t stopped wearing them – until now.

I decided it was time to make better fashion choices; I had vowed to do this at the beginning of the year but, to cut a long story short, I failed miserably so am now really doing it for the second half of the year! My ASOS jeans were getting a little thin in places so I thought what better item to start with in my new ethical & sustainable wardrobe than some jeans.
I found this great blog post from Curiously Conscious which listed some great brands to check out for ethical & sustainable jeans. They all had pretty steep price tags, which I knew they would, however G-Star happened to have a sale on when I was shopping. I knew I wanted to step away from skinny jeans and into something a little more comfortable and the straight leg style was the obvious option. G-Star have a range of different cuts just in their straight leg jeans and the 3301 appealed to me the most.
The 3301 is a classic 5-pocket jean in a modernized, flattering construction. Extensive research into how to give the wearer maximum enhancement is applied in this style, from careful seam placements to the perfectly shaped back pocket – the 3301 is a true wardrobe staple.
I knew that I would be able to casually style these jeans with converse and a t-shirt but I was slightly apprehensive on how to style them up for a more smart casual approach. Enter colour pop heels and the ever faithful boyfriend blazer. As the jeans are a looser fit than my usual skinnies I kept the whole outfit deconstructed. Paired with a classic white t-shirt and minimal accessories I was ready for dinner out with the family.
Comfortable, fit perfectly and easy to style. The perfect addition to my wardrobe.
I love this look on you Kate! The yellow sandals add a really great pop of colour to your simple look:)
