Meet this little gem in Notting Hill.
I love a pop up kitchen and I love a good bottle of wine so when I heard that Real Ale on Golbourne Road where hosting a Sicilian night I cleared my diary, texted the gang and headed for the train station. We were greeted on a breezy Thursday to a buzzing atmosphere in their split level tap room, we started with a gorgeous rose expertly recommended by their staff and headed downstairs for a few sharing plates of the good stuff. It doesn’t look the most appetising (low lighting and Sicilian comfort food makes for a less than photogenic photo) however it was delicious! The pop up kitchen was provided by Panella which is just round the corner from Real Ale. I particularly loved the pasta al forno and the lemon cannoli.
The name Real Ale makes you think that it only sells beer but oh my goodness is their wine selection amazing, my favourite being a red wine called Fred #1 from Slovakia best served chilled. It was a fantastic evening with an awesome atmosphere and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they do more pop up kitchens in the future.
If you are Notting Hill way make sure you pop in for a glass of wine or two or a beer if that takes your fancy instead. They also have another tap room in Maida Vale & a bottle shop in Richmond.
