Another Sunday off together another castle to explore.

This time we set off to discover Hever Castle, the child hood home of Anne Boleyn and we just so happened to be there on the anniversary of her execution! It took about 1 hour and 20 minutes to drive their avoiding the motorways so not to bad at all, you can go by train to either Edenbridge Town Station or Hever Station and get either a taxi or walk but if you can drive that is ideal, parking is free which is always a bonus.
I love a good landscaped garden especially when the sun is shining and you can walk around them with a salted caramel ice-cream. We particularly enjoyed getting lost in the Yew maze and getting soaked in the water maze, if we had brought cash with us we would have hired a rowing boat and messed about on the lake for a while but alas I had to settle for watching the Mr brush up on his archery skills.
The gardens alone are stunning and if I was local I would be there every weekend but the castle is pretty awesome too, it’s kitted out in more of a Edwardian style than the original Tudor decor but with plenty of nods to how it would have looked when Anne Boleyn was a child. As it was the anniversary of her beheading The Book of Hours that is on display at Hever was turned to a page which had Anne Boleyn actual hand writing in the margins, as a bit of a history geek this was seriously cool.
Skirt c/o SHEIN*|Jumper – H&M (similar)|Shoes – Converse|Bag – House of Fraser (similar).
Midi skirts are fast becoming a favourite in my wardrobe which would have surprised me 2 years ago because I didn’t think they suited my petite height but now I love them and this one from Shein is perfect for spring and summer. It’s lightweight and has a proper waistband with a zip so you could wear it with a crop top in the summer months but if it’s still a little chilly or in the evening an oversized sweater works just as well. If you fancy it yourself click here or search 713128 on their main website and don’t forget if you put kate015 in at the checkout then you get 15% off.
I would highly recommend a trip to Hever be it just for the gardens (dogs are allowed in the by the way) or for the whole kit and caboodle.
Would love some more suggestions for places to visit in the UK for the day.
