At the beginning of January I quit my full time job of working in a bar and became a freelance make-up artist. I wish I could tell you all how exciting and busy I am but right now I writing this with the third season of Once Upon A time on and my e-mails refreshing every ten minutes. It’s not as glamorous as I thought it would be.
On the flip side every job I do is amazing and I am making a few contacts for further work and I have learnt a lot about being freelance so I thought I would share with you my top 5 tips of what I have learnt so far!
*You will spend most of your time in your office looking at a computer screen than doing the actual job.
*You will sleep with your phone like a teddy bear in case a last minute job comes up.
*Business cards are super important – I got mine done by Moo Cards
*Experience is important, do every job that comes your way even if it’s unpaid
*Be nice to everyone you never know where that person will be in the five years.
So what have I been up to in my first three months, well I have done just about everything a little bit of fashion, some theatre and a few short films. I also have started doing weddings which is one of my favourite things to do, helping someone get ready for their big day is such a massive honour.
If you fancy keeping up to date with my MUA activities then follow my Instagram which you can find here. Or you can check out my wedding website here.
