Viewing Neverland and Skimming Stones|Orkney Day One

Orkney is a place loved by the rest of my family but somewhere I have never been,

So when my mum and I were thinking about where to holiday this summer it was top of our list.

After flying on the smallest plane i’ve ever flown on – it seated around 30 people. I caught my first glimpse of The Orkney Islands; which through the clouds looked like Neverland.

We checked into our charming little hotel in Stromness (on the mainland) The Ferry Inn.

Linked to a proper country pub with friendly staff and an amazing menu – more on that later.

Not wanting to miss out on any of the day we set off for a ‘stroll’ around Ness Point.

We ate at the hotel where I went for a house special. Beer Battered Haddock with Homemade Tartare Sauce, Handcut Chips and Peas – the dish speaks for itself.

Followed by sharing a Rhubarb Fool with my mum.

Exhausted but excited for the next day we retired early.

The Every Occasion Outfit|OOTD

Crop Top – Topshop|Shorts – H&M|Boots – New Look (similar)|Bag – Accessorize|Tattoos – Lottie London.

Why do I always look so moody in OOTD posts. I promise i’m a happy person!

Anyway, I love this outfit; it’s again very simple but it’s the perfect outfit for just about any occasion. I can see myself wearing this for a lunch date, shopping with the girls, a night out at a cocktail bar or just lounging about at home – minus the boots of course.

The shorts from New Look are a tiny little bit short however I find that wearing some cycling shorts underneath helps any unfortunate flashes. Yes I am still wearing metallic tattoos and these ones are by Lottie London. You get a ton of designs in both silver, gold and black and they are slightly more delicate than the Primark ones I have previously worn. Really easy to apply and last for a good week.

ASOS Girl|OOTD

Shirt, Jeans and BootsASOS.

I am a walking advert for ASOS in this outfit and I didn’t even mean to be! The ASOS sale is literally one of my favourite parts of the year because the bargains are insane. I wore this outfit for dinner and cinema with A and love how great it is for summer evenings.

I live in Ridley Skinny Jeans so when some distressed ones popped up in the sale I just couldn’t say no. I’m not sure I have the best knees for tight ripped jeans – they’ve been compared to two doughnuts but I love how they add a bit of grunge to the outfit without looking trashy.

The kimono shirt was a pretty big step outside the box for me. It’s super over sized and I was a little worried it would drown my quite tiny body especially with the large floral print, but I love how floaty and boho it feels which adds contrast to the ripped jeans.

I’ve had the Roxy Chelsea Boots since Christmas and found I haven’t worn them to much so decided to wipe the dust off them and take them for a ride.

Do you ever end up wearing just one brand?

Seared Tuna and Stripes

A bit of a random post today, but sometimes as a blogger you start an OOTD but only like one photograph or you turn up at a resturant not wanting to blog about it and then suddenly you have to tell everyone about it but didn’t bring your camera and only have Instagram as proof you went; well both of these things happened in the same day so I am popping these together to bring you and OOTD and restaurant review in one.

Chilli Salt Squid followed by Seared Seasame Tuna.

Rock and Rose is a restaurant in Richmond right next to another favourite of mine Cafe Mamma. The menu is an eclectic mix of Asian fusion and good old fashioned grill food and it tastes amazing. I broke my gluten free rule and went for the Chilli Salt Squid and I regret nothing; so many flavours in one but working perfectly together before moving onto a healthier choice the Seared Tuna on a bed of wok fried vegetables and Asian slaw. The tuna was cooked to perfection; the perfect summer dish. All washed down with a few G+T’s.

Crop – Topshop|Jeans – ASOS|Boots – H&M (similar).

Not the most exciting outfit but I love the crop top; because I just can’t stop my addiction with stripes or crop tops. I also can’t seem to stop wearing ASOS Ridley Jeans or these old H&M boots, i’m a creature of habit what can I say.

So there you go an OOTD and a restaurant review all in one!

Dress – Glamorous (similar)|Boots – New Look (similar)|Hat – Primark (similar)|Watch – Mondaine|Rings – Accessorize.

People tell you not to mix blue and black, brown and black, blue and brown but this outfit just works. Now we all know I love a good stripe and this dress from Glamorous is the perfect, it’s great length for a day out in town paired with some brown heeled Chelsea boots which makes the outfit looks less heavy – black boots with bare legs can sometimes make me look ‘dumpy’. I chose equally simple accessorises so as not to take away from the simplicity of the outfit, all silver jewellery.

This is definitely a classic look that I will continue to wear throughout the hotter weather.

Channelling the festival spirit in this outfit for a family day out at Painshill Park which you can read about here. This outfit started out with some Converse on but I changed into wellies because it was a little muddy. White shirt and blue jeans is one of my favourite combinations and these boyfriend shorts are the perfect denim for the summer – not to high up the leg and a little loose to allow maximum comfort. This was only the hats second outing, I love it but its very hard to wear in British weather – wind i’m looking at you!

I’m not going to any festivals this year but I will definitely be channelling the festival spirit in my everyday outfits.

Hat – Topshop|Jumper – Hollister|Dungarees – Forever 21|Pumps – H&M.

Now dungarees are not everyones cup of tea, trust me the amount of comments I have got whilst wearing these is crazy but they are some of the comfiest things I have owned. My mum and I decided to go for a spontaneous dinner out and I wanted something comfy that could hide the large amount of food I wanted to consume.

I paired my dungarees with this cute Hollister cropped sweater and my black bowler hat a rather odd combination but it works. The one thing I’ve struggled with is finding shoes that go with dungarees but these nude pumps from H&M are perfect.

How do you style your dungarees?

Top – Primark|Jeans – ASOS|Boots – H&M (similar)|Bag – Accessorize|Glasses – Specsavers|Coffee Cup – Optional.

Occasionally I have to go to production meetings and although I don’t have to dress in a super smart suit there is a certain business casual approach that I like to take. Black jeans are a great smart casual version of suit trousers and I can’t live without my ASOS Ridley Jeans which fit perfectly and aren’t overly tight. I love teaming these with my leg lengthening H&M Chelsea Boots.

Smart t-shirts are pretty hard to find but this beauty from Primark is great, it’s super comfy and is loose without making you look like you 3 dress sizes bigger than you already are, and the back is sheer giving it a little extra something. I love this bag from Accessorize its perfect for chucking my laptop, scripts and general crap in. My glasses are Specsavers, I finally got new glasses a few months ago and love these chunky black frames.

Crop Top – Topshop|Skirt – Brandy Melville (similar)|Tights – Primark|Shoes – H&M|Bag – Jocasi.

Being comfy is an absolute must for me and this all black ensemble is a go to for me. Just because an outfit is all black doesn’t mean it has to be boring! The different textures in this outfit stop it from being boring and add a little extra something, plus my hair adds a pop of colour.

I love this ribbed crop top from Topshop because its not overly cropped so I don’t have to show off too much of my stomach unless I want to, I love pairing it with this skirt from Brandy Melville which is in an odd sort of suede fabric but even though it looks like it would be heavy it still super swishy.

To add another layer of texture I went for this gorgeous Jocasi python clutch – I recently worked on their new collection as the make-up artist and was very kindly gifted this after the shoot. It’s a great size for holding all my stuff but still looks chic.

We’re going to the Zoology museum…

P1220899

As something of a museum geek it was not unusual for me and my museum pal A to be wandering down a backstreet of London towards the Grant Museum of Zoology.

P122089211224480_10155580782255220_8240046431148953033_n

Linked with the University College London the museum is host to around 67,000 specimens. Now A and I seem to be attracted to weird collections – check out our visit to The Natural History Darwin Collection. The prospect of animal skeletons and samples preserved in fluid caught our attention.

P1220893P1220895

Just one room is home to all the specimens with cats and dogs sharing a cabinet and some Dodo bones chilling with a sabre tooth – if Night at the Museum was real then this would be the horror movie version.

P1220900P1220901P1220904

After working up quite an appetite filling our brains up with knowledge we jumped on a tube and headed to Camden and my all time favourite seafood restaurant Seawise – read my full review here. I opted for an early afternoon G+T and a lobster tail.
