Highstreet Gems|Top 3 Brands

There are so many high street brands out there and they all have plenty to offer but it’s rare to find a brand that I would buy a full face from. Here are my top three high street brands.

Rimmel was the first ever make-up brand I bought from and despite the slightly cheap packaging the products themselves are all fantastic. Very affordable; all products are under £10 and all of a good quality. As a pale girl I love the amazing range of foundation shades and different formulas. Their lipsticks are phenomenal and again come in a large range of formulas and colours something for everyone.

I recommend – Lasting Finish Foundation|Moisture Renew Lipsticks|Stay Matte Powder.

Maybelline is a more recent discovery but I love them mainly for their eye and lip products but their face products are also fantastic. Again a large range of formulas and colours within all there products all packed with amazing pigmentation. A little more expesinve than Rimmel when it comes to bases but still some amazing bargains – Colour Tattoos at under a fiver i’m looking at you.

I recommend – The Eraser Eye Concealer|24 Hour Colour Tattoo|Colour Drama Lip Crayon.

It’s no secret that i love this company not only for their adorable packaging but also for their amazing products. It’s not the biggest make-up range out there on the market but it has some real gems and for such a small brand they cater for a large range of skin tones. I love mainly there lip and cheek products.

I recommend – Kick Ass Concealer|Fabulipstick|Glow Job.

Best concealer ever?!|Maybelline The Eraser Eye

 Maybelline The Eraser Eye Concealer£7.99

Its not secret that I love concealer and this beauty from Maybelline is fast becoming a holy grail product.

The main selling point for me is that it is super full coverage, it’s perfect for use on dark circles but also on any blemishes or imperfections. A super creamy formula that blends perfectly with either a beauty blender or your fingers. I know a lot of people are turned off by the sponge applicator but that really doesn’t bother me at all. The only thing that slightly annoys me is that it only comes in two shades – Light and Nude(I think there may be more shades in the US). I have both but Light is really the only one that works on my pale skin tone, Nude is too dark so I use it as a cream contour.

My Current Go To Face|FOTD

L’Oreal Volume Million Excess Mascara|Inglot AMC Bronzer |17 Blusher |Collection Extreme Liner|Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick|Maybelline Colour Tattoo Leather Effect |Maybelline The Eraser Eye Concealer |Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation.

This has been my go to make up look recently I love the colour combination of the teal on the eyes and the mauve pink on the lips.

Currently using up my Maybelline Fit Me! foundation as it’s a little too dark for my skin tone but it gives a great medium coverage and blends really nicely I just wish they had it one shade lighter. Too conceal I used my Maybelline The Eraser Eye; this is an amazing high coverage concealer which blends really well and hides bags as well as blemishes. I know a lot of people don’t like the sponge but it doesn’t bother me at all. On my cheeks I have an old favourite 17 Blusher in Plum Puff a classic pink for the cheeks that brightens and adds colour paired with Inglot AMC Bronzer in 76 this is a great matte bronzer for contouring.

The eyes are super simple; as a base I used the Maybelline Colour Tattoo Leather Effect in Creamy Beige which gives the eyeliner something to grip of but also gives a subtle sweep of colour on the lids. The eyeliner is this amazingly inexpensive felt tip liner from Collection, I love the teal colour as it really makes the eyes pop. For mascara I used the L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes Excess which is a great mascara for both length and volume with the added plus of being waterproof.

Finishing Touches

On my lips is my current favourite lipstick Rimmel Vintage Pink it’s a Moisture Renew formula so is super hydrating and creamy packed full of pigment – think M.A.C Cremesheen. It’s more of a mauve than a pink but it compliments the teal so well.

Maybelline Nude Perfection Lip Pencil|Review

Maybelline Colour Drama Velvet Lip Pencil in Nude Perfection£4.99

It seems like the high street is answering our demands for 90’s nudes and I am in love with this offering from Maybelline. It is the perfect colour for both a day look as well as being paired with a smokey eye for the night time. Although this is a matte lip pencil it is super creamy and doesn’t dry your lips out. Nude Perfection is full of pigmentation and has a pretty good staying power as well, because of its pencil form it is super easy to apply even on the go! At only £4.99 what’s keeping you from snapping up this beauty and jumping on the 90’s nude bandwagon.
