Extra Super Lash|Review

Rimmel Extra Super Lash£4.99

We all know I love mascara and I love a budget buy even more, this little gem from Rimmel is the perfect combination of both. The Extra Super Lash helps build up a long and thick lash look, although not great for nights out this would be perfect for an everyday look.

One of the best properties of this mascara is that you can layer it up without it going crispy, gunky or clumpy – check me out with my adjectives. The tapered wand means that you can get super close to the root of the lash and into the inner corner.

Sometimes budget is better!

Pure Purple|New Hair

P1220884

Yes, I have dyed my hair again – last month it was Vidal Sassoons Dark Red Violet and this month its the Live Colour XXL in Pure Purple – a vibrant purple with a raspberry feel to it. I did bleach my hair before hand with the Colour XXL Absolute Platinum which really helped intensify the colour.

I used one box of the Absolute Platinum concentrating it mostly on the roots and then working it through the lengths of my hair so that it would add a little bit of more texture and tone to my hair. I then waited over night before using two boxes of the Pure Purple – I have long and thick hair.

I love my new hair colour, it’s a little bit brighter than I expected but once I settled into my hair I embraced the brightness and love how it adds a pop of colour to my monochrome wardrobe.

Winter Baby Colour Show|Review

Maybelline Colour Show Nail Polish in Winter Baby£2.99

Now if you hadn’t already noticed I am a little bit in love with the white nail trend but I totally get that it’s not for everyone! Whilst browsing the aisles of Superdrug I picked up this offering from Maybelline hoping it would be an opaque white. It wasn’t but was more of a translucent milky white similar to my beloved Bourjois Coton Sur Ton, it’s a great colour for people who want to try the white nail trend but aren’t completely sure about it.

I use about three coats to get a good colour and it takes about four days before any chipping occurs. At only £2.99 its hard to say no.

Garnier Eye Make-up Remover|Review

P1220297

Garnier Express 2in1 Eye Make-up Remover£3.50

I am a huge fan of 2in1 make-up removers as I find they get the makeup off quicker than others. I loved the Clinique Take The Day Off but couldn’t really justify the price tag so started trying high street versions.

After trying a few I picked up the Garnier one as it was on offer and haven’t looked back since. You simply mix the two halves of the solution by shaking it the bottle and then apply to eyes on a cotton pad. It’s fast and effective without scrubbing and irritating your eyes and it’s below the £10 mark.

Have you tried any 2in1 Eye Make-up Removers?

Rimmel BB Cream Radiance|Review

P1210989

Rimmel BB Cream Radiance£6.99

I was looking for a lightweight base for my early starts that I could blend with my hands and then go so I went for a BB Cream. I love Rimmel bases and the word radiance drew me in and they come in the shade very light.

This claims to have 9 properties in one bottle however some of the properties are the same thing just worded differently. However the shade is a great match for my skin a super pale, cool toned foundation with what I would call a medium coverage. The formula is somewhere between a liquid and a mousse which isn’t great for dry skin girls like myself as it tends to cling.

I love Rimmel bases but this is not something I will repurchase.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Liner|Review

Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeliner£5.49

After my beloved Supercat Liner ran out I decided it was time to try something new, I love Rimmel as a brand so thought I would try out their ScandalEyes Liner. It has a super fine pen nib which is great for precision liner and you can easily thicken the line up if you so wish. It’s full of pigmentation and is a true black.

The only downside to this product is that it does tend to smudge and transfer quite easily. I don’t have oily eyelids so I think its something to do with the formula, however if you are a fan of fixing sprays – I can’t really be bothered with any of them – then this could sort that problem out.

Have you tried this product?

Vidal Sasson Dark Red Violet

Vidal Sasson Dark Red Violet£7.99

So if you don’t follow me on social media then you might not know that I changed my hair – yes again! I was getting rather bored of the ombre look and wanted a little bit more warmth to my hair. I nearly always colour my hair at home because its easier and a hell of a lot cheaper.

I recently worked for Vidal Sassoon on a graduate catwalk show and loved some of the colours they were using on the models, I had no idea they had their own colour range at Superdrug but was so happy to pick up a colour that I had seen go down the runway.

I went for Dark Red Violet, it’s a gorgeous warm toned red with hints of purple which adds depth to your hair. Not only do I love the colour but it is the most user friendly kit i’ve ever used, coming with a brush applicator and mixing bowl to make sure the colour is thoroughly mixed and applied correctly.

Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Make-Up Remover|Rimmel Radiance BB Cream|VO5 Give Me Texture Sea Salt Spray|Olay Refreshing Toner.

I fell into Superdrug the other day and came out with a few new purchases and a few old favourites.

I love both the Olay Refreshing Toner and Garnier Express 2in1 Eye Make-Up Remover and use them both morning and night. Inexpensive but super effective.

I picked up the Rimmel Radiance BB Cream because I wanted a lightweight base for early mornings which won’t make my face feel clogged. I love the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation so thought I would give this a try. I’ve only used it once so far and I have mixed feelings, but i’ll let you know how I feel about it soon.

I also bought the VO5 Give Me Texture Sea Salt Spray, I love sea salt sprays in the summer when I tend to just let me hair do it’s own thing without any heat tools helping. It smells great like all VO5 products and it doesn’t make your hair sticky but again i’ll do a full review soon.

Have you bought anything recently?

Pale Girl Problems

P1210012

As much as I love my pale my skin, my Irish heritage does cause some beauty problems!

1. Finding an affordable foundation that doesn’t turn me orange.

High end brands can be just as bad but most have slightly better shade range however finding a high street foundation my shade has been almost impossible if you are having the same issue here are some high end and high street suggestions L’Oreal True Match in Rose Ivory, Rimmel Wake Me Up in Porcelain, Illamasqua Skin Base, NARS Sheer Glow.

2. Being able to contour without looking like you applied mud to your face.

As with foundation contouring can be difficult for us pale girls with a lot of popular products – Benefit Hoola i’m looking at you – giving us muddy results however I have found a few products which are fantastic  which you can read here.

3.Burning even in the English sun.

As soon as the sun starts peeking round the clouds on goes the factor 5o otherwise I will be lobster red by the end of the day.

4. People not believing you’ve been on holiday because you just don’t tan.

I honestly don’t tan even if I do burn I just go straight back to white, so to stop with the annoying questioning about my inability to tan I often opt for a bit of the fake bake. My favourite brand to use is Cocoa Brown. You can create a realistic tan and it doesn’t turn you Oomph Loompa orange.

5. People asking if you are feeling alright when you’re not wearing make-up.

‘You look awfully pale are you alright’ ‘Yep that’s just my face without all the contouring and blush’

Have you encountered any of these #palegirlproblems
