Feeling a little bit French|OOTD

The other day England had a little visit from Hurricane Bertha so I had to dig out some winter boots for a recent lunch date with A. I have recently discovered the peplum style – yes I know I am very late to the party and I just had to get a striped one. I am pretty sure there is some rule about blue and brown not be allowed together but I really like the navy and chestnut in this outfit. The boots are just bog standard heeled chelsea boots but these New Look ones are not the comfiest of pairs. The bag is my Chloe Paddington which I adore although I have to say I do take my padlock off the bag because it’s so heavy but it’s a great day bag. I love this outfit it mixes british and parisian fashion and is super comfy.

Rimmel Apocolips in Celestial

Rimmel Apocolips in Celestial£6.49

I have been a fan of the Apocolips for ages but only had them in dramatic reds so wanted something a little bit more day to day. Celestial is a gorgeous pink with a slight purple tone to it – that sounds weird I know but it’s true. Celestial is the perfect for day time but would look lovely with a gloss over the top for a night out.

Apocolips are liquid lipsticks with an amazing staying power and great pigmentation, they are not completely matte but not shimmery either (sort of like a MAC Satin texture) If you need a day to day lipstick that will stay for ages then this is the one for you and under £7.00 whats stopping you really!

Keep It Simple|OOTD

Dress – H&M(similar)|Boots – H&M (similar)|Jacket – Topshop(similar).

Just a super quick little outfit post today. These photos were taken just before I rushed out for a night on the town to celebrate a birthday so apologies that they are a little soft.

This little t-shirt dress from H&M is not only a complete bargain (under £10) but is the nicest thing to wear for a night out. The fabric is super soft and stretchy. It clings in all the right places and can be dressed up or down. These winter boots were not my first choice of shoe but due to some blisters from a previous night out these were the comfiest heels to whack on and I like them with the dress sort of gives it a grunge look. Incase I got cold I chose my Topshop sheepskin lined denim jacket which is perfect for just throwing on in the summer.

This was a nice casual night out hopping from bar to bar and this outfit is just perfect for that.

For some reason I cannot find the dress on H&M online however if you pop into a store and go to BASICS then it will be there!

Maybelline Fit Me!|Review

P1150902P1150904

Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer£5.99|Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation£7.99.

After my beloved Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation ran out I thought it was time to try something new for a day to day foundation and I had been eyeing up the Maybelline Fit Me! system for a while so took the plunge and  purchased both the concealer and the foundation.

The foundation is in 115 Ivory and is the lightest shade that I have found so far, however I think it is still a little too dark and slightly orange for my Casper the ghost skin; despite that I really love the foundation and with a fair bit of blending I can work it as my skin tone. It’s a medium coverage, easy to blend and with a wear time of around 6 hours-probably more with primer. Although it provides an excellent coverage it still lets things like freckles show through which I love but if you want more of a high coverage/blank canvas look then this might not be for you. In terms of packaging it has a pump which is always a plus and I think it looks quite classy for a highstreet foundation.

After selecting your foundation Maybelline then very helpfully gives you three concealer shades that might be right for you so you don’t have to swatch the whole lot. I went for 15 Fair which is the second lightest shade. I love this concealer, its very creamy and blends really well but the best part is it is multi purpose you can use it both under the eyes and on any problem areas; so if you aren’t a make up nerd and just want one product for everything then this concealer is for you.

Plantasia

Its now officially the summer holidays for kids even though some of us have been off for months and I can’t set one foot in London without almost knocking into a gaggle of children. If you’re stuck for something to do with your kids then let me tell you about an awesome bunch of activities going on at Kew Gardens.

What with mum and I pretty much being big kids ourselves I would say we are pretty much the experts.

One of the activities at Kew is The Healing Giant. A garden shaped like a man which shows what plants that are used to treat ailments affecting the area.

But the main event is the Barefoot Walk.

And there is mud, lot’s of mud.

I wasn’t too sure about the mud.

After cleaning yourself  up I would suggest a little trip to the palm house it gets a little hot but the plants are beautiful.

Kew Gardens is fabulous for both families, couples and anyone who wants to get lost in nature. With so much to see and do it is definitely a whole day trip perfect for tiring out your munchkins.

Summer Statements

P1150884

Being someone who works in hospitality – the posh word for I work in a bar my daily uniform is black and more black which for someone who loves fashion is both a good and bad thing. Black makes anyone and everyone look great but it can be a little boring at times, also a lot of jobs don’t let you follow your own fashion sense. I have found a great way; especially during the summer, to perk up my all black outfits and let them have a piece of me in them.

P1150882

Brightly coloured statement jewellery is the perfect way to pep up an outfit, if you don’t normally wear statement jewellery then earrings are a great place to start Accessorize has some amazing ones and at a great price as well. Topshop has some gorgeous pieces as well especially for necklaces.

Top 5 Summer Lipsticks

P1150789P1150790P1150791

Yves Rocher – Framboise|Revlon – Sorbet|MAC – Crosswires|Revlon – Tutti Frutti|17 – Hot Chilli

If you’re not in a summery mood yet – although with this heat wave I don’t see how you couldn’t be! Whack on a bright lipstick and you are ready to soak up those rays (after covering yourself in a good SPF) Here are my five favourite lipsticks for these hot months.

If you are a bright pink sort of a girl then the Yves Rocher Moisturising Cream Lipstick in Framboise is for you; it’s more of a fuchsia than a raspberry but it’s super creamy, very highly pigmented and for longevity it last a good while and slightly stains your lips. The Revlon Lipbutter in Sorbet is bright pink but is slightly sheer and doesn’t have a great wearability however they are so moisturising that it’s no bother to re-apply and is perfect for someone who likes a lightweight lipstick.

If you are not into bright lips then the MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Crosswires is a gorgeous pinky coral which has a medium wearability but is really creamy, moisturising and super pigmented. Pink is not for everyone so if you prefer more orange tones in the summer then the Revlon Lipbutter in Tutti Frutti is a good choice; it’s not overly pigmented so is great if you are just getting started with the brighter colours. However if you are a brights lover then the highly pigmented Hot Chilli by Seventeen is perfect it’s a long wearing, creamy lipstick that is perfect for all skin types.

Which would you wear?
