The Monument

The Monument, a huge pillar that you bump into as soon as you exit the station. It’s an odd little London quirk; huge historical monuments just plonked in amongst the hustle and bustle of the city. I stumbled upon this whilst searching for something to fill an afternoon up in the city and thought hey why not. Β£3.00 to climb over 300 steps and see London sounds like a great way to kill some time.

The stairs a spiral of concrete with no windows. If you are not a fit and able person then this may be a little like hell for you but trust me it’s worth it.

The views from the top are stunning and it’s not a crowded tourist attraction. I wouldn’t say it was something to spend the whole day at, the top of the viewing platform is about the size of a box room but it’s great if you are passing through the area. I spent around half an hour up there just enjoying the fresh air and the lovely views but you could stay shorter or longer!

Peace Out and Pixie Dust XO
